
NCAT Concludes ICAO Training Instructors’ Course Batch 61 (TIC-61)

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has successfully wrapped up the ICAO Training Instructors’ Course Batch 61 (TIC-61), reinforcing its role as a leading provider of ICAO-compliant training for aviation professionals across Africa and beyond.
The one-week intensive course, held at NCAT’s main campus, was designed to develop instructional competencies aligned with the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Instructor Competency Framework. It focused on performance-based training and learner-centered instruction.
A total of 12 participants completed the course, representing a diverse mix of local and international aviation organizations. Participants included personnel from:
- Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)
- Dana Nigeria
- Jets Services Nigeria
- Private Flyers Nigeria
- NCAT Flying School Instructors
- The Head of Works Department, NCAT
- And an international delegate from Burkina Faso
The course curriculum covered essential topics such as instructional systems design, training delivery techniques, lesson planning, learner engagement, and classroom management. Participants were assessed through practical teaching demonstrations and peer feedback, ensuring that each graduate left with hands-on experience and a solid understanding of instructional best practices.
NCAT’s ICAO-certified facilitators guided the cohort through scenario-based training and real-time performance evaluations, fostering a collaborative learning environment and encouraging critical reflection on instructional approaches in aviation settings.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Rector/CE was ably represented by the Deputy Rector (Academic), Capt. Jim Hassan praised the participants for their professionalism and commitment. “This course is not just about delivering lessons; it’s about shaping instructors who can inspire, guide, and build the next generation of aviation professionals. We are proud to have hosted this remarkable batch,” a representative said.
The successful conclusion of TIC-61 highlights NCAT’s ongoing mission to strengthen aviation training capacity across Africa and support the global aviation system with well-trained, ICAO-compliant instructors.
