
Courtesy visit to the executive Governor of Zamfara State
On 16th December 2025, the Rector/Chief Executive of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), accompanied by his management team, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, at the Government House, Gusau .
In his address, the Rector highlighted NCAT’s mandate and ongoing contributions to aviation manpower development in Nigeria.
The Governor informed the team about the ongoing construction of a modern airport in Zamfara State, comprising both domestic and international terminals, with completion expected by March 2026. He further disclosed plans for 2026 Hajj airlift operations from Gusau, to be launched by NAHCON.
Discussions centered on collaboration between NCAT and the Zamfara State Government. The Governor expressed appreciation for NCAT’s efforts, confirmed state sponsorship of students for training at NCAT, and also requested NCAT’s guidance on staffing and capacity building for the new airport.
In response, the Rector explained that the State Government would need to recruit, train, and license essential airport personnel, including Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers and marshallers, while noting that Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) would be provided by NAMA for security reasons.
The visit concluded with mutual appreciation and a shared commitment to sustained collaboration in developing aviation infrastructure and human capacity in Zamfara State.
