Multi-Engine Rating

A Multi-Engine Rating (MER) is a certification that permits a pilot to operate aircraft that have more than one engine. This rating is typically required for pilots who wish to operate multi-engine aircraft, such as larger commercial aircraft, cargo planes, or business jets.

The training typically includes theoretical knowledge and practical flight training. The theoretical component covers topics such as multi-engine aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and emergency procedures. The practical component of the training involves flight training in a multi-engine aircraft with a qualified instructor, including takeoffs, landings, and emergency procedures.
